This one-day RYA SRC/VHF Radio course teaches the basics of VHF radio operation, the correct channels to be used for distress, emergency & medical assistance procedures. We use only training radios and not simulators so you can become confident in using the various controls and DSC (Digital Selective Calling) functions. Your instructor can help you to choose equipment for your own boat.
After you enrol, the course book is posted to you. You will need to put in at least three hours of study before attending. The teaching part of the course will start at 0830.
You will be able to sit the SRC exam later in the afternoon. There is a separate fee of £60 payable to the RYA for the SRC exam and, if successful, your VHF licence would be issued.
None. Suits those going to Sea, Dive boat operators and Inland Waterway users.
