Learn the theory of powerboating, working with tides, weather, how to launch and recover you boat, passage planning. You will learn and practice manoeuvring the boat, mooring, recovering a person that has fallen overboard or is in the water. You will undertake the passage you have planned to marks up to 3 miles offshore and gain experience of navigating a river estuary.
Training will be carried out on planning hull in tidal conditions.
You may even see a family of porpoise or seals that visit the mouth of Morecambe Bay. The scenery is spectacular with views of the Cumbrian hills and SouthLakeland.
You don't need any experience to take this course. You can take the course from the age of 12 but if you are under 15 your certificate will be endorsed accordingly.
You can exchange the Powerboat Level 2 certificate for the International Certificate of Competence for Powerboats up to 10metres in length.
